It all starts from one individual’s effort to save the world, says actor Samer Singh Dawar who recently did a music video titled Tujhe Dhunde Meri Jaan. This Earth Day, the actor says that instead of blaming the world, let’s look into what we can do to save the earth.
“Before we talk about saving the planet, it is crucial that we all understand that it is not just the government’s job or that of our world leaders to protect the environment. Rather, it’s a collective responsibility. We must consider our planet as our home and by that, I mean we need to give it the same kind of attention and respect that we give to our homes, avoid littering, make sure to use dustbins and avoid spitting and making your surroundings dirty. These are the basic things which I strongly believe that everyone should practice,” he says.
Talking about what he does, the actor adds, “I have made sure to abide by these ever since I was a kid. Apart from cleanliness, it is also important to understand the impact of global warming and how we have been exhausting our resources constantly to such an extent that there has been a massive depletion and extinction of numerous species.”
The actor says that while the authorities are working hard, there are people who disobey rules. “Our government has been trying to promote natural and sustainable resources of energy and also protect the flora and fauna through measures such as wildlife sanctuaries. But still, there are numerous cases of hunting and other false practices which need to stop. On a personal note, I have made sure I do my bit. I try saving electricity and water in my house by shutting all the switches when not in need, making sure to close the tap and avoid spillage of water as much as I can, not taking super long showers and wasting water etc,” he says.
He adds, “On the occasion of Earth Day, I urge everyone reading this, to take it upon themselves to contribute towards saving our environment as every individual effort and the smallest of steps counts collectively to a greater good.”
